[INTRO]

Are you ready? Rock now, rock the right, you’d better believe it’s right!

—————————————-
Europe – Rock The Night
—————————————-

Europe starting off another killer two hours of Hard Rock, Heavy Metal, and Hair Bands from the 70s, 80s, 90s, 2000s, 20-teens, and today with “Rock the Night.”

My name is Pariah Burke, and I’m your hard talking, heavy drinking, hairball of a horny hedonist host.

Thank you for joining me.

I’ll tell you more about what’s coming up on the show after we follow Taylor Momsen and the Pretty Reckless down with a little pornstar action.

—————————————-
The Pretty Reckless – Follow Me Down
My Darkest Days – Porn Star Dancing
—————————————-

That was My Darkest Days with “Pornstar Dancing” bringing up the rear for the Pretty Reckless’s “Follow Me Down,” which features the orgasmic stylings of pornstar Jenna Haze.

You know, I had a completely different vision for this week’s show, but then this morning a Facebook friend of mine asked an interesting question that sent me off in a different direction. On Facebook Tracey DeGreen asked, “what’s that one song that gets you in the mood?” That question and where it led my thoughts changed the Cover Song of the Week and the Triple-Shot, both of which you’ll hear soon. Right now, here’s Tracey’s answer to her own question: Kingdom Come, “What Love Can Be.”

Kingdom Come – What Love Can Be
—————————————-

Rock Queen of the Week is next. Keep your sexy ass in that chair.

[Rock Queen of the Week]

This week’s Rock Queen needs no introduction. Ever since 1988 we’ve all wanted to kiss her deadly. This is Lita Ford.

—————————————-

Ready for your first Cover Song of the Week clue? Remember: the first clue is always the hardest.

The Cover Song of the Week is a little off-beat. Released in 1990, it was the B-side and first cover for a now household name Industrial Rock and Metal act. It’s a band whose name is rumored to have come from either Freddy Krueger’s fingernail knives or the spikes that crucified Jesus Christ. What musical act is that? What was the act’s first ever cover song? If you know, then you know what the Cover Song of the Week is.

More, and easier, clues later.

This is new Seether. “What Would You Do?” on Hard, Heavy & Hair.

—————————————-
Seether – What Would You Do
Metallica – Turn the Page
—————————————-

Metallica, “Turn the Page.”

We have to turn the page and get ready for the next segment, which means a quick message from the people who keep the lights on. Don’t go away. There’s plenty more Hard Rock, Heavy Metal, and Hair still to come!

Hi. I’m… I’m, uh, Pariah, and I’m a… I’m a–sigh–I’m a “Luv-A-Holic”, just like Kix.

—————————————-
Kix – Luv-A-Holic
—————————————-

Last week Tracii Guns tweeted about a fan who’d contacted him on Facebook. That fan, Craig, was in the hospital with COVID and feeling pretty down. As soon as I saw Tracii’s tweet, I reached out to Craig and sent him last week’s Hard, Heavy & Hair Show, number 217, to listen to a few days before even the radio stations were allowed to play it. It wasn’t much, but it was what I could do. Because Craig was a fan of L.A. Guns, I figured–correctly, as it turns out–that he’d like the show, and that maybe it would help him pass a little of the lonely hospital time.

He said me sending him Hard, Heavy & Hair made a difference for him in a dark, scary time. That’s very humbling to hear. I’m humbled and honored I was able to help even the smallest bit.

I am pleased to report that today Craig was released from the hospital. We messaged a few minutes ago, and he said he’s back home in bed beside his wife.

Craig also asked if I could play Badlands “High Wire” for him. It would be my pleasure, so here you go, Craig. I’m glad you made it home safely. There’s also something coming in the mail for you soon. This is Badlands followed by an L.A. Guns classic.

—————————————-
Badlands – High Wire
L.A. Guns – Rip and Tear
Rough Cutt – Cutt Your Heart Out
—————————————-

Rough Cutt will “Cutt Your Heart Out.” The Triple-Shot is next!

[Triple-Shot]

—————————————-
Guns N’ Roses – Rocket Queen
Mr. Bungle – The Girls of Porn
White Zombie – More Human Than Human
—————————————-

The first shot you heard was Guns N’ Roses “Rocket Queen,” then “The Girls of Porn” by Mr. Bungle, and finally White Zombie with “More Human Than Human.” What do those three songs have in common? Simple: All three include real samples of people having sex.

And that might–just might, mind you–have something to do with the Cover Song of the Week. While we’re talking about it, let’s get you your second clue.

Let’s talk about the original recording artist. It’s an iconic Rock band whose members included a Zanzibarian signer who is considered one of the greatest frontmen of all time, and not just for his 4 octave vocal range, plus a bonafide astrophysicist, a Taylor, and a Deacon. When they released the Cover Song of the Week original in October 1977, it made News of the World.

Think about that. We’ll be right back after a brief station identification.

It’s just a… touch.. too much with AC/DC.

—————————————-
AC/DC – Touch Too Much
10 Years – Waking Up the Ghost
Wicked Smile – Last Goodbye
—————————————-

From about 10 years ago, that was 10 Years with “Waking Up the Ghost” following a brand new Wicked Smile, “Last Goodbye.” Stick around. More Hard Rock, Heavy Metal, and Hair Bands still to come.

After all those sexy songs, I’m ready for another. How about you? Do you wanna step inside and drip your sugar over me, baby? I bet you do. C’mon, “Pour Some Sugar On Me.”

—————————————-
Def Leppard – Pour Some Sugar on Me
Warrant – Heaven
—————————————-

I will always love that song. It brings back such memories, which is kind of meta because it’s a song about nostalgia that conjures nostalgia for when the song was new.

It also reminds me that it’s now been ten years since Jani Lane left the world. Rest in peace, man. Your music will live forever.

This is new Glam Metal with a Disco name out of Newcastle, England. With the song “Can’t Get Enough,” this is Midnight Chic. “Midnight Chic.” Doesn’t it just sound like they should be opening for the Bee Gees, or Wild Cherry, or Donna Summer? Maybe it’s just me.

—————————————-
Midnight Chic – Can’t Get Enough
Thundermother – FFWF (Fight Fire with Fire)
—————————————-

Thundermother with “Fight Fire with Fire.”

The Cover Song of the Week is right around the corner. It’s done by the artist who has a Head Like Hole, but gets Down In It despite the Hurt, in spite of the Star Fuckers, Incorporated. But the original artist, a Killer and Princes of the Universe, made a big Flash because they Rocked You until, scattamoosh, scattamoosh, Another One Bit the Dust.

Think you know who I’m talking about? Find out if you’re right in just a moment. Get on your bike and ride! The Cover Song of the Week is next.

[COW]

Do you know the Cover Song of the Week, the original artist, and the covering artist?

Continuing down the rabbit hole my friend sent me down with her Facebook post, the Cover Song of the Week is all about music to turn you on. Its the lustiest song Freddie Mercury and the guys in Queen ever did, and the covering artist made it even sexier and nastier. Who was that original artist? Nine Inch Nails, of course. Released as the B-side to the “Sin” single from Pretty Hate Machine, NIN’s cover of Queen’s “Get Down Make Love” is a little different for Hard, Heavy & Hair–it’s definitely Industrial Dance–but it fits this week’s show, and the Queen original will bring us back down to Hard Rock ground.

This is the NIN cover followed by the Queen original of “Get Down, Make Love.”

—————————————-
Nine Inch Nails – Get Down Make Love
Queen – Get Down, Make Love
—————————————-

That was Queen with the original for “Get Down Make Love” following the Nine Inch Nails version, the Hard, Heavy & Hair Cover Song of the Week. If, like most, you’re curious where all the dialog bits in NIN’s cover came from, they were sampled from the 1962 remake of the film The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari.

Now for something totally… the same. This is Motley Crue with “Sticky Sweet” from Dr. Feelgood.
