Transcript of the Show

[INTRO]

Cum inside, all you bad boys and bad girls. I gotta ask: are you gettin’ it?

—————————————-
Def Leppard – Armageddon It
—————————————-

Def Leppard, “Armageddon It.” That was the 2006 re-master.

Are you really gettin’ it? Thank God, I am. I don’t know what the hell I’d do if I had to go more than a couple of days. Fortunately, I know a lot of bad girls, and this show is an ode to them with with Rare Hair from Van Halen, Vixen, Diamante, the Sleeze Beez, and more, plus Hits and Deep Cuts from the likes of Skid Row, Joan Jett, Lita Ford, Theory of a Deadman, Motley Crue, and more.

AND, I’ve got plenty of new music for you, too. This is the first of the six brand new songs you’ll hear over the next two hours. With their 2020 reprise of a 2008 song, this is Econoline Crush and “Get Out of the Way (Gold Heart)”.

—————————————-
Econoline Crush – Get Out Of The Way (Gold Heart)
My Darkest Days – Porn Star Dancing
—————————————-

My Darkest Days and “Porn Star Dancing” following brand new Econoline Crush. On a related note, I am so glad that strip clubs have started opening back up. I put a stationary pole in my living, and plenty of my stripper friends have come by to play on it and me, but there’s just something magical about going to the club.

Vince, Tommy, Mick, Sixx know what I’m talking about. This is “Girls, Girls, Girls.”

—————————————-
Mötley Crüe – Girls, Girls, Girls
—————————————-

Don’t go away! We’re about to hear from some of the bad girls themselves.

[ ======================================== BREAK 1]

Welcome back to the Hard, Heavy & Hair Show, your weekly dose of Hard Rock, Metal, and Hair Bands from the 70s, 80s, 90s, 2000s, 20-teens, and today, including the latest new releases, your old favorites, and deep cuts and rare hair.

My name is Pariah Burke, and I’m your hard talking, heavy drinking, hairball of a horny hedonist host.

Thank you for joining me.

This week on Hard, Heavy & Hair, I’m spinning songs by and about bad girls. Here’s a bad girl we all know.

—————————————-
Lita Ford – Kiss Me Deadly
L.A. Guns – 17 Crash
—————————————-

From 1989’s Cocked & Loaded LP, that was L.A. Guns and “17 Crash.”

Ready for your first Cover Song of the Week clue? Remember: the first clue is always the hardest.

The band doing the Cover Song of the Week is an exciting modern Hard Rock band with a definite 80s Hair Metal feel. Hailing from Belfast, Ireland, the four-piece band is led by brothers David and Ryan. You’ve heard me play their music in the past, from their 2018 album Cold Star Dancer and their 2014 LP Quid Pro Quo.

More and easier clues later.

Here’s something brand new from Partridge-style family band, Liliac. It’s Heavy Metal children–literally–singing their new song “We Are the Children” on Hard, Heavy & Hair.

—————————————-
Liliac – We Are the Children
Great White – Mista Bone
—————————————-

I sincerely hope all my female listeners aged 18 to 69 know I’m here for them, with open arms, any time you’re in that lovin’ mood, any time you want it rude. That was Great White and “Mista Bone,” coincidentally, both names women have called my junk.

Coming up is a Dirty 30 and something new from The Suicide Notes.

[ ======================================== BREAK 2]

Welcome back! You’re just in time for a triple-shot of Dirty 30s, three songs released 30 years ago in 1990, starting with a song that needs no introduction.

—————————————-
Warrant – Cherry Pie
Sleeze Beez – Screwed Blued ‘n Tattooed
Vixen – Bad Reputation
—————————————-

Bad girl Rockers Vixen telling us about their “Bad Reputation” after the Sleeze Beez got “Screwed Blued ‘n Tattooed.”

Are you ready for some brand new UK Gutter-trash rock n’ roll? With buzzsaw guitars and raw nicotine-soaked vocals, rock ‘n’ roll swagger, and whiskey on the rocks, the Suicide Notes are the illegitimate sons of punk and sleaze, conceived on a bed of red wine, cigarettes, and back alley attitude. And this is their newest whisky-soaked, Marlboro-gravelly travesty, “On the Rocks.”

—————————————-
The Suicide Notes – On the Rocks
—————————————-

Still coming up is new Notorious and Black Stone Cherry, and more bad girls and songs about bad girls from your old and new favorites, right here on the Hard, Heavy & Hair Show.

[ ======================================== BREAK 3 (Bottom of Hour)]

As an acting exercise I once acted out a scene to this next song. When I came off stage, the audience was in tears and all half of them came up to hug and console me. True story, not exaggerating. If I hadn’t gone into radio, I might have had a decent acting career.

[SW – Kiffiny – Break Out The Lighters.wav]

—————————————-
Poison – Every Rose Has Its Thorn
Mr. Big – Big Love
—————————————-

Mr. Big ready for “Big Love” following the always poignant tear-jerker, “Every Rose Has Its Thorn” from Poison.

August is right around the corner, and I know all you parents are wondering: Do you buy school clothes or more liquor?

Have you seen the Facebook video from Carl Hosick doing a Hair Band Tribute to 2020? It’s freaking hilarious. Here’s a couple of snippets from it.

[Clips – Carl Hosick – A Hair Band Tribute to 2020]

Absolutely hilarious! And that’s only part of the video! For the whole thing, visit (and please like) the Hard, Heavy & Hair Show Facebook page. If it’s easier, you can also just hit the show notes for show 262 on PariahRocks.com. I’ve linked to Carl’s full video including a Whitesnake-inspired segment. The whole thing is funny as hell.

You know what’s not funny but is instead sexy as hell? Bad girls. Specifically, hard rocking women flexing their sexual power. Here’s a double-shot of powerhouse female vocalists who know what they want. First up, Halestorm and “I Get Off” from their 2009 self-titled debut.

—————————————-
Halestorm – I Get Off
Diamante – There’s a Party in My Pants (and You’re All Invited)
—————————————-

There’s a party in Diamante’s pants, and we’re all invited. So, who’s driving and what time are you picking me up to head to Dia’s?

I’ve actually met Diamante. She’s as nice as she is talented, but, uh, yeah, there’s a lot of bad girl inside the nice girl.

Or maybe Lzzy Hale is more to your taste. Either way, there are more bad girls coming up, just like the Cover Song of the Week, old favorite hits and deep cuts, and more new music as Hard, Heavy & Hair continues on its is second hour.

[ ======================================== BREAK 4] [ ————— BREAK FILL for NET → ]

This is the Hard, Heavy & Hair celebration of bad girls, and this next band is an Indie Canadian five-piece called, weirdly, Track of Rock. From their self-titled 2019 debut, a year old next month, this next song is “Girls Gone Wild.” I tell ya, you gotta give it up for a band willing to go blunt and sing “C’mon sexy don’t be afraid / ’cause we’re about to get laid.”

Dangerous Toys and Y&T follow with a little more subtlety and innuendo. Again, this is the band Track of Rock and their song “Girls Gone Wild.”

—————————————-
Track of Rock – Girls Gone Wild
Dangerous Toys – Teas’n, Pleas’n
Y & T – Bad Bad Girls
—————————————-

Y & T and “Bad, Bad Girls” following “Teas’n, Pleas’n” from Dangerous Toys.

Next is new Glam Metal from Norway.

[← —————- BREAK FILL for NET]

Welcome back to Hard, Heavy & Hair with me, Pariah Burke.

This next song is from Norwegian band that says it wants to bring back to life the classic sound for the Hard Rock and Glam Metal bands that ruled the Sunset Strip in the early ’80s. They list their inspirations ad Motley Crue, Skid Row, Europe, Poison, and then Van Halen, but specifically saying NOT Van Hagar.

That bio fits, and I like them a lot. From their debut album Glamorized, this is the single “Friday Night (Get Ready)” from the band Notorious followed by Van Halen–NOT Van Hagar.

—————————————-
Notörious – Friday Night (Get Ready)
Van Halen – Girl Gone Bad
—————————————-

Van Halen from 1984, “Girl Gone Bad.”

Ready for your next Cover Song of the Week clue?

The Cover Song of the Week original was written about a real woman the singer really wanted. But, like the song says, it was another guy holding her in his arms late, late at night. The singer met this woman–and her boyfriend–at a stained glass class they all took. Years later, Oprah had her people try to track down the Rock singer’s real-life crush. Sadly, they found the teacher of the stained glass class two years after his death, and a year after all his student records had been destroyed. And thus ended any way of identifying the song’s eponymous guy or his girl, and reuniting her with the singer who wrote a song about unrequited love for her, a song VH1 listed in the Number 20 spot on the 100 Greatest Songs of the 80s list.

This is perhaps the baddest of the badass bad girls of Rock N’ Roll singing about how much she loves it in a gender-swapped cover of the Arrows’ hit. It’s Joan Jett and the Blackhearts.

—————————————-
Joan Jett & The Blackhearts – I Love Rock N Roll
The Cherry Truck Band [Black Stone Cherry & Monster Truck] – Love Become Law
—————————————-

Brand new song “Love Become Law” resulting from the team-up of Black Stone Cherry and Monster Truck.

Here’s your final Cover Song of the Week clue.

The 2018 version that is the Cover Song of the Week isn’t the first cover of this iconic 1981 Rock song. The first cover was just a year later by Alvin and the Chipmunks live on the 1982 Labor Day Muscular Dystrophy Association Telethon. Maybe I’ll play a clip of that for you soon. I can’t play it now because the melody would give away the song even more obviously than these lyrics:

You know, I feel so dirty when they start talking cute
I wanna tell her that I love her,
But the point is probably moot

Yeah, you know the song. The Cover Song of the Week is next.

[ ======================================== BREAK 5] [COW]

Everybody with a radio knows Rick Springfield’s “Jessie’s Girl,” which is the Cover Song of the Week original this week. Yes, it was written about real people.

Rick Springfield had been taking a stained glass class when he met Gary–whose name wasn’t quite as musical as “Jessie”–and Gary’s girlfriend, whom Springfield really, really wanted. As I noted earlier, Oprah Winfrey tried to track down Gary and his girl years later, but hit a deadend. Springfield thinks the real woman is out there with probably absolutely no idea this iconic Rock n’ Roll song is about her.

The band covering “Jessie’s Girl” is a modern Hard Rock and Glam band named Maverick, but they weren’t the first cover the song. The very first cover was done during the 1982 MDA Telethon by Alvin and the Chipmunks. Here’s a clip.

[clip – Alvin and the Chipmunks – Jessie’s Girl]

That’s funny. If you want to here–and SEE–the full performance, I’ve put the video in the show notes on PariahRocks.com for episode 262.

Right now, it’s the REAL Cover Song of the Week from Maverick, followed immediately by the Rick Springfield original.

—————————————-
Maverick – Jessie’s Girl
Rick Springfield – Jessie’s Girl
—————————————-

That was “Jessie’s Girl,” the Hard, Heavy & Hair Cover Song of the Week. The original is, of course, by Rick Springfield, and it followed the 2018 Hard Rock cover by Maverick.

I once had a Jessie’s girl. But she was not the person I thought she was. I threw her back to Jessie. Seriously.

On this show we’ve been talking about bad girls. We’ve heard songs ABOUT bad girls, and songs FROM bad girls. I hope you realize that it’s all in fun, and that what many people think of as a “bad” girl, is just an empowered woman not afraid to want whatever it is she wants. And it’s a woman who DESERVES whatever it is she wants, whether that’s sex, fun, the great music on this show, or to be treated with respect and equity. Bad girls are women who aren’t afraid to show their vulnerability but also their strength. THAT’S how I define a bad girl. So, if you’re a bad girl of that definition, stand up, be proud, and kick some mutherfucking ass!

Connect with me on Twitter and Instagram @PariahRocks and on Facebook At-Pariah-Rocks-You and tell me what you thought of this “Bad Girls” Hard, Heavy & Hair Show. AND what songs you bad girls want to hear NEXT time I do a tribute to you.

And if you’re a bad boy–like me? Don’t worry. Our show is next week! On Hard, Heavy & Hair 263, right here on this station, it’s all about bad boys.

Don’t forget to hit PariahRocks.com, that’s P-A-R-I-A-H-R-O-C-K-S-dot com, to see those hilarious videos in the show notes for show 262, and to stream this show and about a hundred others on-demand, 25 hours a day, 8 days a week.

My name is Pariah Burke, I’m your hard talking, heavy drinking, hairball of a horny host and producer. Thank you for joining me for this week’s Hard, Heavy & Hair Show.

I’ll see you back here next week. Trixter is going to play us out with one final ode to bad girls.
