[INTRO]

This is Hard, Heavy & Hair Show number two hundred and forty-one. It’s titled “Jukebox Heroes,” so are you ready? Ready to rock? You better get ready! Once we start, we never stop! And we’re starting with Airbourne.

—————————————-
Airbourne – Ready to Rock
—————————————-

Airbourne’s “Ready to Rock” kicking off another ass-kicking, head-banging, fist-pumping 2 hours of Hard Rock, Metal, and Hair Bands from the 70s, 80s, 90s, 2000s, 20-teens, and today, including the latest new releases, your old favorites, and deep cuts and rare hair.

Let’s go straight into something new. This is “Hollow” from Static-X.

—————————————-
Static-X – Hollow
Dance Gavin Dance – Prisoner (clean)
—————————————-

That was another brand new track. The title is “Prisoner” and it’s from Dance Gavin Dance, a band with an unusual name for a song that sounds like that.

My name, in case you’re confused, is Pariah Burke, and I’m your hard talking, heavy drinking, hairball of a horny hedonist host.

Thank you for joining me for this week’s Hard, Heavy & Hair.

Coming up on the show is the exclusive worldwide debut of a new Jeff Carlson Band song, some massive hits from the 70s, 80s, and 90s, and the very latest from Ozzy!

This is Def Leppard.

—————————————-
Def Leppard – Photograph
—————————————-

Quiet Riot and your first Cover Song of the Week clue is next.

[ ======================================== BREAK 1]

Girls, rock your boys! “Cum on Feel the Noise” with Quiet Riot.

—————————————-
Quiet Riot – Cum on Feel the Noize
Mötley Crüe – Raise Your Hands to Rock
—————————————-

A deep cut from Theatre of Pain there. That was Motley Crue with “Raise Your Hands to Rock.”

It’s time for your first Cover Song of the Week clue.

Have you seen the 2012 film Rock of Ages? It stars Tom Cruise, Julianne Hough, Alec Baldwin, Russell Brand, and Diego Boneta, and centers around a Whisky-A-Go-Go-like Sunset Strip music club in 1987. The movie features some of the best 80s Rock N’ Roll ever on film, including several numbers sung by the cast.

Toward the beginning of the movie, Diego Boneta takes Julianne Hough to Tower Records where he sings a significant portion of the Cover Song of the Week original during a mashup that also includes Alec Baldwin and Russel Brand warbling “I Love Rock N’ Roll.” Here’s what Diego Boneta’s character Drew says right before he starts singing:

[Clip – Rock of Ages]

If you haven’t seen the film, here’s another clue that might help: The song title mentions a device we’ve all seen, and most of us have used. It’s a device whose name derives from 1930s Creole slang for a brothel or roadhouse.

More and easier clues later.

This is the very latest from Ozzy Osbourne, “All My Life.”

—————————————-
Ozzy Osbourne – All My Life
—————————————-

If you haven’t heard, Ozzy has cancelled his 2020 “No More Tours 2” tour. He said it’s to “allow him to continue to recover from various health issues he has faced over the past year.” Ozzy later expounded on that saying it was pain from aggravating his 2003 quad bike accident. But, with the recent revelation that he has P2 Parkinson’s Disease…

I had an all-access pass to see Ozzy in July. I was going to take my friend’s 19 year-old son, maybe see if they’d let me take him backstage with me to meet Ozzy. Given Ozzy’s health over the last year, I figured it was now or never. But it looks like, maybe, I was too late anyway.

I hope I’m wrong.

Prove me wrong, Ozzy! You can do it, man.

Let’s pay tribute to the great man with another shot of Ozzy. This is “Crazy Train”.

—————————————-
Ozzy Osbourne – Crazy Train
—————————————-

Metallica is next on Hard, Heavy & Hair.

[ ======================================== BREAK 2]

Is that a woman or a man? I’ve heard that plenty of times from behind me. I bet you have, too. From the front, my beard usually answers the question. It’s time to “Turn the Page” with Metallica.

—————————————-
Metallica – Turn the Page
Guns N’ Roses – Sweet Child o’ Mine
—————————————-

G ‘N R, “Sweet Child O’ Mine.”

By request for the Kimster in Aukland who listens to Hard, Heavy & Hair on New Zealand’s 107.7 FM, The Generator, this LA Guns covering the Arrows’ “I Love Rock N’ Roll.”

—————————————-
L.A. Guns – I Love Rock n’ Roll
David Lee Roth – I’m Easy
—————————————-

From his 1986 Eat ‘Em and Smile solo album, that was Diamond David Lee Roth.

Coming up in the next hour is the Cover Song of the Week, Poison, Kiss, AC/DC, Pretty Maids, Volbeat, new Machine Head and Nightwish, and more! Stay tuned, my fellow head banging badass!

[ ======================================== BREAK 3 (Bottom of Hour)]

Still coming up is that exclusive, world-wide premiere from the latest RFL Records recording artist. For now, here’s something else new. This is Austin Gold, “We Are Lightning.”

—————————————-
Austin Gold – We Are Lightning
Volbeat – Die to Live [feat. Neil Fallon] —————————————-

Up from number 5 to 4 in its 15th week on the Billboard Mainstream Rock Chart, that was Volbeat featuring Neil Fallon. The song is “Die to Live.”

Ready for another Cover Song of the Week clue?

The Cover Song of the Week is a story song about someone inspired by music to become a musician himself. The song’s protagonist progresses through his musical career as the song goes on. The story ends, with a logical and poetic conclusion.

If you’re listening to this show, then you have absolutely listened to the Cover Song of the Week–at least the original, no one has heard the cover version because I’m debuting it exclusively worldwide right here on the show. But think about that clue. You DO know the song.

More clues later.

Kiss is next with “I Love It Loud” followed by something new from Lyoness on Hard, Heavy & Hair.

—————————————-
KISS – I Love It Loud
Lyoness – Devils Dance
—————————————-

“Devil’s Dance” by Lyoness, a 5-piece out of Hertfordshire, England

More right after these brief messages from the folks who pay my bar tab.

[ ======================================== BREAK 4] [ ————— BREAK FILL for NET → ]

A classic to play on the jukebox any night at the bar, this is Ram Jam and “Black Betty.”

—————————————-
Ram Jam – Black Betty
Warrant (Robert Mason) – Music Man
—————————————-

“Music Man,” a deep cut from Warrant’s last album, 2017’s Louder, Harder, Faster.

This next song is new from Melodic Hardcore Canadian band Rarity. This is “Drown Me Out.”

—————————————-
Rarity – Drown Me Out
—————————————-

[← —————- BREAK FILL for NET]

We’re almost to the exclusive worldwide premiere of the new RFL recording artist. We’re also nearly to the Cover Song of the Week. I’ll have your third clue for you after some rare hair from AC/DC and brand new Machine Head. First, this is “Rock N’ Roll Singer.”

—————————————-
AC/DC – Rock ‘n’ Roll Singer
Machine Head – Circle The Drain (Radio Edit)
—————————————-

New Machine Head there. That was “Circle the Drain.”

Ready for your third and final Cover Song of the Week clue?

The band performing the cover that I have the honor of being the first on earth to broadcast around the earth, is a four-piece Las Vegas group that just signed with RFL Records. The eponymous leader of the band says he’s played guitar for Lita Ford, Firehouse, Faster Pussycat, Bang Tango, Tora Tora, Phil X of Bon Jovi, and Tesla. That probably helped him get Tesla guitarist and lead songwriter Frank Hannon to play lead on the Cover Song of the Week, too.

The Cover Song of the Week is one of the best known songs from the same band that gave us hits like “Double Vision,” “Dirty White Boy,” and “I Want to Know What Love Is.”

Think about that while I spin for you brand new Nightwish.

—————————————-
Nightwish – Noise
—————————————-

All the way from Finland, that was Floor Jansen fronting symphonic Metal band Nightwish on the newest track “Noise.”

Something else I guarantee you’ll hear first on Hard, Heavy & Hair is coming up, because I’m the only one allowed to play it before its release next week! That’s very, very near, and the Cover Song of the Week is next.

[ ======================================== BREAK 5] [COW]

In the first Cover Song of the Week clue toward the top of the show I mentioned that the etymology of the Cover Song of the Week title comes form 1930s Creole slang for a brothel or roadhouse. That Americanized West African dialect referred to a brothel as a “juke joint.” Gradually the verb “juke” came to mean wicked, rowdy, or disorderly, and, eventually, become synonymous with dancing wildly. It’s no wonder that, as coin-operated phonograph players grew in popularity in the 1940s, they came to be known as “juke boxes,” a name that persists today even though modern jukeboxes don’t even include CDs.

When Foreigner recorded and released “Jukebox Hero” in 1981, it immediately began inspiring would-be musicians. One of them, was a guitarist named Jeff Carlson. Carlson would go on to play with Lita Ford, Firehouse, Faster Pussycat, and a host of other Hard Rock and Metal bands. It was also a song Jeff’s father used to play when Jeff was young. When his father passed away in January of this year, Jeff chose to honor his father by covering “Jukebox Hero” with his band, the aptly named Jeff Carlson Band. Jeff even brought in his friend Frank Hannon from Tesla to record the lead guitar.

Exclusively on the Hard, Heavy & Hair Show, by special arrangement with RFL Records, this is the worldwide premiere, the first anywhere airing, of the Jeff Carlson Band covering “Jukebox Hero.” It’s the Hard, Heavy & Hair Cover Song of the Week. The original by Foreigner follows the brand new cover.

“Juke Box Hero,” the Hard, Heavy & Hair Cover Song of the Week. You just heard Foreigner’s original following the exclusive, worldwide premiere by RFL recording artist the Jeff Carlson Band with a little help from Tesla’s Frank Hannon on lead guitar. Unlike Foreigner, which was half British, the Jeff Carlson Band and Tesla are all American, so let’s hear another cover–Poison doing “We’re An American Band.”
