That was “Lightning” from the band British Lion, a musical project by Iron Maiden bassist and primary songwriter, Steve Harris.
British Lion is another artist you’ll see perform live on the high seas, and I do mean HIII-IIGH. There is so much smoking and drinking on the Monsters of Rock Cruise–there’s almost as much pot and booze onboard as there is sex and music! You can go sober, of course, and a lot of people do, but one thing you don’t want to do, is go with a monogamous partner. You’ll miss out a stunning array of hookups. Buuuuuuut that’s enough about that. The Hard, Heavy & Hair Show is archived, and some day I might go in for monogamy; I don’t want something I said on the air making it difficult for me take Monsters of Rock Cruise without this hypothetical future girl.
Besides, the Cruise is far from the only annual Rock and bangfest event.
Believe me, on the MORC cruise, you’re gonna want to stay up all night so you can rock out with your [sfx rooster] out.

I couldn’t squeeze Burning Rain into this show, but I did put it in the part 2 you can stream on-demand right now. Oh, I didn’t mention that yet, did I?

I know Steelheart is a favorite for several of my listeners, so this is Steelheart’s biggest hit, a favorite of Hair fans the world over. Often mistakenly called “Angel Eyes” for obvious reasons, the actual title of this song from Connecticut-based Steelheart’s 1990 self-titled debut is “I’ll Never Let You Go”.

What Black ‘N Blue songs he likes to play most live. And how he was surprised to find Black ‘N Blue co-founder and lead singer Jamie St. James staring at him in a record store. That was White Trash, a surprising inclusion on the Monsters of Rock Cruise 2020. A Hard Rock band with definite Punk and Ska elements, and, of course, the BadAss Brass brass section there. I still listen to their 1991 self-titled debut album front to back from time to time.
