This is Hard, Heavy & Hair! So “Cum on Feel the Noize”!

—————————————-
Quiet Riot – Cum on Feel the Noize
—————————————-

Welcome to the Hard, Heavy & Hair Show, your weekly dose of Hard Rock, Metal, and Hair Bands from the 70s, 80s, 90s, 2000s, and 20-teens, including the latest new releases, your old favorites, and deep cuts and rare hair.

My name is Pariah Burke, and I’m your hard talking, heavy drinking, hairball of a horny hedonist host.

Thank you for joining me.

I’ll tell you more about what’s coming up on the show after a little White Zombie. This is “More Human Than Human.”

—————————————-
White Zombie – More Human Than Human
—————————————-

Flashing back to ’95 with White Zombie.

As usual, this episode of Hard, Heavy & Hair is going to take us all through the decades of Hard Rock, Heavy Metal, and Hair Bands, including brand new music making its debut right here tonight.

I mean, you are not going to BELIEVE who Ozzy collaborated with on his latest track! That’s coming up on the show. So is brand new Anvil, We’re All Aliens, the return of Asphalt Valentine, and more.

And, of course, in addition to new songs, there’re hits and deep cuts, rare Hair and new favorites, and the Cover Song of the Week.

Right now, let’s get you something new. This is Jasta featuring Trivium’s Matthew K. Heafy on new track “When the Contagion is You” on Hard, Heavy & Hair.

—————————————-
Jasta – When The Contagion Is You (Feat. Matthew K. Heafy)
—————————————-

New Metal from Jasta and Matthew K. Heafy. Let’s get back to Hair hits next.

Do you know someone who walks like a woman but acts like a little girl? Maybe you should dedicate this 30-year-old Baton Rouge hit to that person. This is “Walks Like a Woman.”

—————————————-
Baton Rouge – Walks Like a Woman
Poison – Fallen Angel
—————————————-

From Open Up and Say Aah, that was single number 2, “Fallen Angel.” Sandwiched between singles “Nothin’ But a Good Time” and “Every Rose Has Its Thorn,” “Fall Angel” is often forgotten, so it qualifies as rare hair.

I’ve got your first Cover Song of the Week clue for you right after a double-shot of new songs, starting with We’re All Aliens and ending with an anthem for anyone familiar with this sound.

[FX bong hit]

This is “Where Do You Stand.”

—————————————-
We’re All Aliens – Where Do You Stand
Anvil – Nabbed In Nebraska
—————————————-

Anvil with new track “Nabbed in Nebraska.” Now, I know all my listeners are good little boys and girls, so you probably don’t understand what that song was about. You see, it was about the evil mari-jue-wanna, the cannibas, the wacky weed.

[FX/clips]

Jesus, after that, I need a drink, a bowl, and maybe a line or two. Gimme a minute, then I’ll have your first Cover Song of the Week clue for you.

Have a “Piece of” Skid Row.

—————————————-
Skid Row – Piece Of Me
—————————————-

Ready for your first Cover Song of the Week clue? Remember: the first clue is always the hardest.

The Cover Song of the Week original is a 1989 Pop Rock hit that you have definitely heard–it’s been played on American radio alone more than 3 million times–and in numerous movies and TV shows since, including Pretty Woman. The song is by a Swedish duo comprising vocalist and keyboardist Marie Fredriksson and guitarist and vocalist Per Gessle. Together, their upbeat, happy music dominated Top 40 and Light Rock radio in the first half of the 90s. They continued to tour and record until 2016 when the brain tumor Fredriksson had been battling since 2002 reached a stage that prohibited touring.

More and easier clues later.

This is “Sex Action” from LA Gun’s 1988 self-titled debut.

Roxx Gang – Red Rose
—————————————-

Roxx Gang and “Red Rose.”

Are you excited about new Ozzy music? How about Ozzy collaborating with a very unlikely Rock icon? And, just so you know, I don’t use the word “icon” lightly. When I say it, I fully mean a real, honest to goodness icon–other than Ozzy himself. That new song is just around the corner.

For right now, I’ve got something else new for you.

What would happen if you put a shield maiden vocalist at the front of Viking Metal with Sabaton-like epic story songs? Raise up your swords, shields, and hammers, brethren and sistren! Because THIS is what you get! For the honor of the All-Father, I give you Brothers of Metal and their newest, “Powersnake!”

—————————————-
Brothers of Metal – Powersnake
Zero Theorem – You
—————————————-

“You,” from Zero Theorem, a band named for a trippy Terry Gilliam film about a search for the meaning of life.

New Asphalt Valentine and Shyyne are still coming up, as is Jackyl, Def Leppard, Dio, Through Fire, and a seriously unlikely new Ozzy collaboration.

This next band records just down the street from me. This is Veio with “Flare of Defiance” followed by a blending of Heavy Metal with classic melodies of Scandinavian pop tradition.

—————————————-
Veio – Flare of Defiance [Single Version] Maryscreek – Hypnotized
—————————————-

Mixed by Stefan Glaumann who has worked with Rammstein and Within Temptation, among others, that was “Hypnotized” by Maryscreek. My friend Jay Bird at Radio Vegas Rocks turned me on to Maryscreek. I’m glad he did. Speaking of sharing music…

Jesse in La Grange, Kentucky sent me an email. Jesse writes, “Hey, Pariah. I found your show because my Uber driver was playing it in his car. I didn’t know anyone was playing new and old Hair Metal! I thought headbangers were forgotten by radio! I’m so glad I took that Uber ride, man. I’ve been listening to your archives of shows all day, every day since!

“I feel like the only one who remembers the music of the 80s and 90s and also loves the new Hard Rock and Metal coming out and being played on Hard, Heavy & Hair. I feel like I stand alone. So, can you help a Metal-loving brother out and play Jackyl ‘I Stand Alone’?”

Hell, yeah, I’ll play Jackyl for you, brother! And I hope you tipped that Uber driver with impeccable taste in driving music, and rated them 5-stars! And to that Uber driver, I say, “thanks, for helping people like Jesse and me get around safely, and for playing bitching tunes while you drive!”

This is for you, Jesse–“I Stand Alone” by Jackyl.

—————————————-
Jackyl – I Stand Alone
Def Leppard – Women
—————————————-

I love Rock N’ Roll. I love bourbon. But there’s one thing I love above all else, and Def Leppard just sang a song about that.

How about another Cover Song of the Week clue?

The Cover Song of the Week itself is a new Hard Rock version of a beautiful ’89 ballad. It’s by a newer band from Omaha, Nebraska. You’ve heard their music before on the Hard, Heavy & Hair Show. In addition to the Cover Song of the Week, they did these songs:

[clips]

Think you know who they are? See if you’re right coming up in the Cover Song of the Week in this second hour of the show. There’s still one more clue to come.

A self-described blend of Bad Company and the Foo Fighters, this next band hails from Tempe, Arizona where they have a reputation of playing anywhere, any time, no venue too small. This is the Black Moods with “Whatcha Got” followed by one of my favorite Dio tracks.

—————————————-
The Black Moods – Whatcha Got
Dio – Fever Dreams
—————————————-

“Fever Dreams,” a deep cut from Dio’s 2000 LP Magica. That’s one of my favorite Dio tracks. Definitely one of my Top 50. Probably Top 10.

This next song is a little different. It’s Hard and Heavy, but it’s also more Horror Punk than Hair band. Still, I like it. I’m hoping you will, too.

From Portland, Oregon, this is Hideous Monster, a band with an all monster-lineup, including a vampiric band leader, G.D. Fangs. The song is called “Phantasm.”

—————————————-
Hideous Monster – Phantasm
—————————————-

Yeah, you’re going to hear Hideous Monster again on the 2020 Hard, Heavy & Hair Halloween Special.

Let’s do not one, not two, but THREE brand new songs right now. We’ll start with the latest from Asphalt Valentine, check in with Shyyne, and end with that brand new Ozzy collaboration with someone you would NOT expect. First up is “Twisted Road” from Asphalt Valentine.

—————————————-
Asphalt Valentine – Twisted Road
Shyyne – Go Your Own Way
Ozzy Osbourne/Elton John – Ordinary Man
—————————————-

When I first heard Ozzy Osbourne was collaborating with Elton John, I posted about it on Facebook on the Hard, Heavy & Hair Show page. The conversation was hilarious, with people mashing together the titles of Ozzy songs with Elton John’s. One of my favorites was “Hold Me Close, Mr. Crowley.”

This is Warrant and “Uncle Tom’s Cabin” before your final Cover Song of the Week clue.

—————————————-
Warrant – Uncle Tom’s Cabin
—————————————-

If you haven’t guessed the Cover Song of the Week yet, I feel strongly that should. If you’re not a fetus, I’m sure you know the song–even if you only watch TV. It’s been featured just in the last couple of years in episodes of Mr. Robot, GLOW (one of my guilty pleasures), and a show your kids probably watch, 13 Reasons.

Maybe you’ll recognize the song from a clip. The title of the song is actually sung in this clip, so I’ll be humming over that part. I don’t want to make the clue TOO easy.

[Clip COW Original]

Got it now? Well the Cover Song of the Week is a Hard Rock rendition of that. You’re not going to want to miss it. The Cover Song of the Week is next.

[COW]

Did you figure out the Cover Song of the Week? The band doing the Hard Rock cover in a new release is from Omaha, Nebraska–something I hinted about overtly and subtly with songs like “Nabbed in Nebraska” from Anvil earlier. The cover is the latest single from Through Fire’s 2019 Sumerian Records LP All Animal.

So what song are they covering? It’s a mega-hit Pop Rock song from ’89 that has been played more than 3 million times on the radio–that’s a big deal, in case that escapes you–and is often used to set the scene on TV shows and in movies. It’s the ballad “Listen to Your Heart” by Roxette.

Here it is getting the Hard Rock treatment by Through Fire in the Cover Song of the Week, followed immediately by the original Roxette version.

—————————————-
Through Fire – Listen To Your Heart
Roxette – Listen to Your Heart
—————————————-

“Listen to Your Heart” is this week’s Hard, Heavy & Hair Cover Song of the Week. That was the original version by Roxette following the new Hard Rock cover by Through Fire.

This is another new song, “Angry Inch,” from Strong Like Bull.

I’ll see you back here on this station next week for another all new Hard, Heavy & Hair Show.

Until then, I wish you “Godspeed,” by Alter Bridge, that is.
