Transcript of the Show

[INTRO]

Welcome to the show! Now “Let’s Get Rocked” with Def Leppard.

—————————————-
Def Leppard – Let’s Get Rocked
—————————————-

Welcome to the Hard, Heavy & Hair Show, your weekly dose of Hard Rock, Metal, and Hair Bands from the 70s, 80s, 90s, 2000s, and 20-teens, including the latest new releases, your old favorites, and deep cuts and rare hair.

My name is Pariah Burke, and I’m your hard talking, heavy drinking, hairball of a horny hedonist host.

Thank you for joining me.

Coming up in this first hour of the show you’ll hear Judas Priest, rare Bon Jovi, Motorhead, Blue Murder, the newest Bad Wolves, and much more.

Right now, let’s reach back to that 1998 4-times-platinum Godsmack debut album that shook the world. This is the very first Godsmack song many people heard, track 1 from their self-titled debut, “Moon Baby.”

—————————————-
Godsmack – Moon Baby
Rev Theory – Favorite Disease
—————————————-

Far too many people can relate to that song. If you’re in a toxic relationship, walk away, leave. It won’t get better. It never does. And the person that is right for you is out there waiting. Are you going to miss that person because you’re wasting your time with your favorite disease?

And if you don’t have anyone special in your life at this moment, then maybe your life is a little too boring. Maybe it’s time you started… Breaking the Law!

—————————————-
Judas Priest – Breaking the Law
—————————————-

Judas Priest from British Steel.

We’ll be right back with your first Cover Song of the Week clue, Poison, and Three Days Grace.

Each week on the Hard, Heavy & Hair Show we play a game. Later in the show I’m going to play for you the Cover Song of the Week, a Hard, Heavy, or Hairy cover version of someone else’s song. Leading up to it, you try to guess the song, the covering artist, and the original artist from clues I drop. Sound fun? It is.

Here’s your first clue. The first one is always the toughest.

The covering artist and the original artist have a unique connection beyond just this week’s Cover Song of the Week.

The original artist–a household-name band–actually wrote another, different song ABOUT the covering artist! It’s a famous song–one of the original artist’s most famous hits–and it was inspired by them seeing the unique look of covering artist in the early 80s.

That’s it. That’s your first clue. If you’re completely scratching your head at that, don’t worry: later clues will be easier.

Right now, it’s Poison from Open Up and Say… Ahh! This is “Love on the Rocks.”

—————————————-
Poison – Love on the Rocks
Great White – Rock Me
—————————————-

“Rock Me” from Great White. That is a truly great song there, and this next one’s inching it’s way toward greatness. This is the “The Mountain” from Three Days Grace.

—————————————-
Three Days Grace – The Mountain
—————————————-

We’ve gotta take a short break while I pick which Tinder dates I want to hookup with tonight. While I do that, have a listen to these words from the station and our sponsors.

The new Bad Wolves album N.A.T.I.ON. comes out this week, on October 25th. This next song, “Killing Me Slowly,” is the second single from that album and currently number 12 on the charts.

—————————————-
Bad Wolves – Killing Me Slowly
Motörhead – Ace of Spades
—————————————-

The unmistakable classic “Ace of Spades” from none other than Motorhead.

You know, it’s just one more week until the big Hard, Heavy & Hair All Hallow’s Eve show. Motorhead is what made me think of it. There may or may not be another Motorhead song in that show. If you can’t wait, then I can guarantee a Motorhead Halloween-related song you can play right now–on PariahRocks.com, in Part 1 of A Hard, Heavy & Hairy Halloween Special. Stream it any time you want.

Here’s a Bon Jovi rarity, a lost classic that never gets airplay any more. From 7800-degrees Fahrenheit, this is “Silent Night.”

—————————————-
Bon Jovi – Silent Night
Blue Murder – Jelly Roll
—————————————-

“Jelly Roll” from Blue Murder. Love that acoustic guitar explodes into an electric guitar shortly after the one minute mark.

Coming up is Tense Machine, Megadeth, the latest from I Prevail and Spread Eagle, and rarities from Warrant and AC/DC. Don’t go away.

We’re back with a threesome of rarely-played tracks from three great bands. First up is Whitesnake with “Bad Boys” from the 5-times-platinum 1987 album and then Warrant and G N’ R.

—————————————-
Whitesnake – Bad Boys
Warrant – Machine Gun
Guns N’ Roses – The Garden
—————————————-

What’s it with you, man, and this garden? Featuring guest vocals by Alice Cooper, that was “The Garden” from Guns N’ Roses off Use Your Illusion I.

Before it was a killer Warrant cut from the follow-up to Cherry Pie, 1992’s Dog Eat Dog LP. The song was “Machine Gun,” the first of the album’s four singles that got almost no radio or MTV play at the dawn of the Grunge-filled 90s.

I’ve got your next Cover Song of the Week clue right after some friends of mine from Canada championing love as the best mistake you’ll ever make.

—————————————-
Tense Machine – Best Mistake
—————————————-

Tense Machine, “Best Mistake.” Dane, Mike, and Brendan have been writing and recording new music–and talking about it live on Facebook videos. I, for one, can’t wait for a full Tense Machine LP to followup their three-song EP that included “Best Mistake.”

Read for another Cover Song of the Week clue?

The Cover Song of the Week original was never a huge hit for the Boston-based 5-piece Classic Rock band, but most of their fans will know it. In fact, many musicians cite it as their favorite song by this band. Jeff Beck named the song his favorite, as did Slash.

It’s a tough clue, yes, but that’s why I’m going to give you FOUR clues this week, and the last one in particular will be super easy. Stay tuned.

We’re back with “Black Betty” by Ram Jam.

It’s just one more week until the big Hard, Heavy & Hair All Hallow’s Eve show. If you can’t wait, hit PariahRocks.com right now, because there’s already 8 hours of completely different, no-repeat, no-talk Halloween Hard Rock, Heavy Metal, and Hair Bands in A Hard, Heavy & Hairy Halloween Special, streaming on-demand all day, every day, to soundtrack your ghastly days and wicked nights this Rocktober.

This song could have been part of those streaming shows. This is “Fever” from King Voodoo.

The Amity Affliction – Drag the Lake
—————————————-

“Drag the Lake” by the Amity Affliction. We’ll be right back.

Still charting in the number 31 spot, this is I Prevail with “Hurricane.”

And here’s more about the Cover Song of the Week original–a bonus clue to help you narrow it down from the original recording artist’s large catalog of great music. This was a band that long ago got its wings, played with toys in the attic, and even took a Permanent Vacation.

The song itself features lyrics inspired by a fear of earthquakes, which, back in the 70s, scared a lot of people because of two large fatal quakes, the Charlton Heston disaster movie _Earthquake_, and a report that a major fault line ran through New Jersey nuclear power plant. The song’s title and lyrics are a double entendre, a dual meaning, referring directly to an earthquake and to civilization’s culpability in ignoring the threat of quakes.

Ponder that.

An AC/DC rarity is coming up. First, something new from Duane Morano’s band, featuring former SteelCity vocalist Bryan Cole. This is “Cookie Jar” from the new Morano album Incognito available now.

—————————————-
Morano – Cookie Jar [Feat. Bryan Cole] —————————————-

New Morano with Bryan Cole on vocals. Bryan sings a few songs on the new Incognito album, though XYZ’s Terry Ilous and Tyketto’s Danny Vaughn do guest lead vocals on most of the tracks. Nita Strauss even guests on a track. Check out Incognito, self-released by Morano.

Another 2019 album–one being called “album of the year” and “a triumphant return”–Subway to the Stars from Spread Eagle. Ray West and the guys kick ass with New York street Metal all the way through the record. Here’s one of the singles from it, “Cut Through.”

AC/DC – Riff Raff
—————————————-

Rare AC/DC “Riff Raff.”

The Cover Song of the Week is next.

[COW]

Earlier I gave you a clue stating that covering artist, the singer doing the Cover Song of the Week, was actually the inspiration for a different song written by the Cover Song of the Week’s original recording artist. That dude, the covering artist, sure looked like a lady when the band met him. His looks inspired their 1987 comeback hit.

You know who the original recording artist is, right? And the covering artist, that dude that looked like a lady.

Now, do you know what song they’re singing? A song whose title is a dual meaning–one word that can (and does) mean both the cause of earthquakes and of assigning blame to someone.

The original artist is Aerosmith, as I’m sure you already figured out, which makes the dude who looked like a lady and inspire the song Vince Neil. The song is “Nobody’s Fault,” a double meaning referring to fault lines and society’s blame for ignoring them.

The Cover Song of the Week, from Vince Neil’s 2010 solo album Tattoos & Tequila, is “Nobody’s Fault,” followed immediately by the Aerosmith original.

—————————————-

A favorite of many musicians, that was “Nobody’s Fault” of the 1976 Aerosmith Rocks LP. It follows Vince Neil’s version, which is the Cover Song of the Week.

For Megadeth, “Killing Is My Business… and Business Is Good!”.

My name is Pariah Burke, I’m your hard talking, heavy drinking, hairball of a horny host and producer. Thank you for joining me for this week’s Hard, Heavy & Hair Show.

If you missed any part of this show, you can stream it again on-demand 25 hours a day, 8 days a week, from PariahRocks.com, that’s P-A-R-I-A-H-R-O-C-K-S-dot com.

Next week is the infamous annual Hard, Heavy & Hair All Hallow’s Eve Show. It’s a regular show–with a Cover Song of the Week even–of all Halloween-related Hard Rock, Heavy Metal, and Hair Bands. Trust me: you don’t want to miss it. Even if you’ve been listening to the no-talk, music-only A Hard, Heavy & Hairy Halloween streams. Next week’s show is the best of the best hard Halloween tracks, ones that are NOT included in the streaming specials.

Listen right here on this station in one week.

I thought we’d go out a little lighter, with a song hitting number 7 this week on the Active Rock charts. This is Dinosaur Pile-Up and “Back Foot.” I’m Pariah Burke. I’ll see you next week.
